What are SDgs?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

Everyone is needed to reach these ambitious targets. The creativity, know-how, technology and financial resources from all of society is necessary to achieve the SDGs in every context.

Why do SDGs matter to schools, teachers and parents?

Students need to learn about the world. The SDGs are global in nature and therefore the students need to learn about these initiatives to, to understand the issues about the world around them
Students are the future decision-makers. To solve the biggest problems of the world, we need students to be the active participants in their local and global communities. SDGs help student engage in practical goals and problem-solving
When students are exposed to the realities of the world and understand the global scenario of poverty, hunger, inequalities and environment, they also begin to understand the unique challenges faced by the communities. It builds compassion and empathy among students, which will make them passionate responsible adults.
When students, teachers and parents are inspired to take action, together we become a powerful force for achieving the UN's vision of a more peaceful, healthy and equitable world
